About

Ashlyn Jensen is a screenwriter, online journalist, and short fiction author from  Houston, TX.  Ashlyn’s formative years were turbulent and confusing, a fact she felt she had to hide to avoid judgment and disappointment from her loved ones. This secret identity is perhaps the major reason Ashlyn always ran to the page to liberate herself from having to be the prim, pressed girl that everyone expected her to be.

It wasn’t until she flunked out of her hometown’s lackluster community college, at the age of nineteen, that she discovered her talent and passion for writing professionally. She then went in search of creative writing courses in her town and was re-directed to her soon-to-be University’s homepage. From there, she enrolled and was finally amongst people just like her, unapologetically expressing themselves through storytelling. As Ashlyn  Ashlyn discovered her true north in screenwriting and film.

She found herself writing gritty, real-life stories about people and places the world would otherwise choose to look away from, and she began to see herself in them. Whether it was through the characters, plot, or setting, she always managed to uncover another secret piece of who she was, and who she wanted to be, in her work. That’s when Ashlyn’s journey as a writer began to transform into a mission of self-improvement, and an opportunity to find herself. Ashlyn looks forward to using her skills to step into the writing industry with ferocity, insight, and education worth its weight in gold. Her latest works are blog posts that follow advancements in the developing world and have been published on The Borgen Project website.
